NEE NAW NEE NAW!! That is the sound Little L makes while playing with the Brio Light and Sound Fire Truck. He LOVES it! He takes the little fireman figures out of their spot in the truck, grabs the hose, hoists up the ladder and puts out imaginary fires. When the fire is out you can wind the yellow button on the top, reel in the hose and the firepeople can go back to the fire station for a rest before the next emergency! I always associated Brio with wooden train sets like the Brio Classic Train we reviewed recently It is the usual good qualityRead More →

As Big L is now coming to the end of year 2 I am fairly well-versed in lost property! We have got through several ties, jumpers, water bottles. You name it at some point we have had to replace it! I was really happy when Stikets asked me to review their name labels. When he first started at pre-school I had grand ideas about the fabric name labels like the ones I had when I was a kid. I bought some and (my mum) sewed them in to his coat etc. Only for them to fray very shortly afterwards. I got fed up and resortedRead More →

We have never really been a family for displaying photographs. Which is a shame because our children are, quite frankly, beautiful. Biased? No, not at all! We have started to rectify that lately with the help of CanvasChamp. CanvasChamp’s website is really easy to navigate (which is just as well as I am easily confused). You select the product you want from a drop-down box and click “start order”. Then you have the choice of uploading a photo from your computer, gallery, Facebook or Instagram – it’s so easy! Once ordered the canvas arrived very quickly – within a couple of days, although they doRead More →

I have yearned after a Brio train set since having my first son some seven years ago. When I was asked if I would like to review the classic train I jumped at the chance. We live in a world of plastic toys and I really enjoy the nostalgia of a Brio Classic Train. Little L was two recently and we asked that he wasn’t given any toys as he has all Big L’s to play with so, when I review toys for his age group, I am a little bit picky. Basically I only review them if I want them myself! Big L wasRead More →

There are few things in life a 6 year old boy loves more than a sling shot. With that in mind when the chance to review Whacky Shots arised I jumped at the chance. When Big L got home from school on the day it arrived he was incredibly excited “I always wanted one of those, Mummy”. To be honest I think he was laying it on a bit thick but, nevertheless, I felt I had gained “mum” points. Whacky Shots is more than just a sling shot. In the World Warriors pack you are sent 8 x Whacky Shots which are rubber creatures thatRead More →

When I was asked by www.my-picture.co.uk to review one of their canvas and run a give away I jumped at the chance. The days of taking your camera film to the chemist to be developed or popping it in an envelope for posting has long gone. It’s a bit of a shame in some ways. I have thousands upon thousands of photos floating around the cloud but no one but me really sees them. And because we don’t have physical photos we don’t really display them either. A couple of Mothers Days ago Monsieur Incidental bought me a small canvas with a photo of meRead More →

Tech Deck is celebrating its 20th anniversary 20 years ago I was 20 and hanging around with a group of real skateboarders. It turns out I a) either didn’t learn much from them or b) have forgotten it all over the years as when I received these fingerboards the names and descriptions meant NOTHING to me! Tech Deck are 96mm fingerboards and BMX bikes that are replicas of their full size counterparts. They even feature real graphics from the biggest names in the sports such as Primitive, Element and Plan B. We were sent 3 sets consisting of A Flip 4 pack of fingerboards, aRead More →

I do love a chip but my figure does not. I am attempting to shift a bit of weight at the moment but I don’t do diets. I like to try to eat healthily and up my exercise. Unfortunately at the moment I struggle with exercise which means I can’t burn off the creme egg I might have scoffed at 9.30am so therefore I need to be more careful with what I’m putting in my mouth (if Cadbury’s go into receivership it may or may not be a direct result of my healthy eating). So without further ado I bring you the VonShef Digital AirRead More →

#alternative gifts #mothersday

In case it has escaped your notice Mother’s Day is fast approaching. As usual I have left this guide until the last minute…unless you’re reading this after 11th March 2018 in which case I’m early – you’re welcome! I decided to create a list of things other than personalised tea towels, teapots and books because, well, I don’t want tea towels, teapots or books and I’m sure I’m not alone. What I would REALLY like is a night out on the tiles and a day off to suffer a hangover in peace but that isn’t going to happen so without further ado feast your eyesRead More →

#shnooks, #series2, #candyscented

I’m very fond of these little Shnooks creatures, Big L reviewed the original Zuru Shnooks last year and since then it comes out fairly often, its fuzzy hair usually tickling Little Ls chin. Although they are appropriate for age 3 and upwards (likely due to the smaller accessories I would imagine), when you have a nearly 7-year-old and an almost 2-year-old age limits on toys tend to go out of the window, well they do in my house anyway. This time 3 turned up which resulted in much excitement! They are almost completely flat in cardboard packaging contained in a plastic “bubble” hence the tagline “fromRead More →
