VOTE FOR ME! I’m a MAD Influencer Awards Finalist

Yes, you heard it right. I am a finalist in the MADS

This year is the tenth anniversary of the MAD Blog Awards and it’s back after a bit of a break.

I found out I was a finalist in the Influencer of the Year category a couple of weeks ago and I STILL haven’t quite got my head around it!

I am in a group with some awesome bloggers and influencers with huge followings so I need all the help I can get. My category is the first on the list and I am The Incidental Parent. Voting closes 8th March so be quick!

What does being a finalist mean to me?

I was gobsmacked that I was a finalist. I am by no means considered a “big blogger” my following is much smaller than many of my peers. That said I am extremely proud of my website and social media. I have fantastic followers (I don’t like the word followers, it makes me sound like the messiah) who are very supportive. We don’t all have the same beliefs, political or otherwise but we all respect each other, most importantly we all like to have a laugh together!

Why did I start blogging?

I started blogging almost 4 years ago after a friend suggested it. I used to post on my own personal Facebook and they said others would find it funny. I chose the name The Incidental Parent as an antidote to the mummy blogs that were about at the time. I was a person before I had children so I am incidentally a parent.

I have always tried to keep my blog as real as possible. I talk openly about mental health and living and parenting with Crohn’s. I am a feminist and want equal rights for all. I strive for equality and accessibility, I am not perfect, I am always learning. I don’t use filters on my photos, other than for a laugh. My house is not an insta house. I suppose I make some people feel better about themselves and others pity me! Most of all I forget to take photos on important days; you probably won’t see a photo of my kids posing in their world book day costume (what costume?), pancakes are eaten before they are photographed and I am usually a bit too tipsy from the 1st December right up to the middle of January to get involved in elf shenanigans – we have one, it’s just not photographed.

Do I sound like someone you should follow? Of course I do!

You will find me more often than not mucking about on Facebook – check out my page Erica: The Incidental Parent, I am also on Instagram and Twitter
