I’m going to be honest, lockdown was both a curse and a blessing. A curse because well.. the circumstances weren’t the best as we can all agree, but a blessing because it’s given many families more time to enjoy together, more time to bond, more time to laugh and yes, more time to shed some tears (both adults and kids). And the fact that we are all in this strange situation together, so we can also understand each other better.
One of the things that I’ve been loving to do is getting our house sorted, transforming it to a home that we love and cherish. You know all those tasks we keep in our to-do list that we never have time to actually complete? Well, those tasks are now scratched off the list but as you are aware, when you start redecorating, there are always other things you can change in your home, it’s a never-ending cycle.
It’s been good to have everyone at home so we can all chip in, whether it is with actual extra helping hands or simply by giving their ideas. After all, we all live together, so even the kids should have a saying and can help us with some minor tasks or simply see how to do certain things.
One of the next things on my to-do list is to change up the ironmongery at home – door handles, door hinges, any ironmongery that is worn-out or outdated is going. If you want to have an ironmongery uplift in your home as well, I’ve put together some of the latest ironmongery trends to give your home a refreshed feel.
Make it personal.
Who said that these small details in your home couldn’t be both functional and stylish? Ironmongery can make or break your interior design and you should use it to your advantage. Plus, with the vast variety of ironmongery products there are available, you can really make it special and show off your own taste and personality. Ironmongery Experts published a blog post on how to replicate popular pop-culture doors, and that’s such a fun idea! Imagine your family games room with the door of your family’s favourite show, sounds good to me.
Golden hues and matte black
These tones are definitely up there on the list of popular colours to adorn your home this year. As My Three and Me says “Ditch the all-white interiors with some high-contrast décor instead.”
Mix and match.
Forget about needing to have a consistent metal tone throughout your home, choose one or two or maybe three and mix them to create an aesthetically pleasing and interesting décor.
As Mummy Fever mentions on her blog post “If you look around and your home looks bland, plain and flat maybe it’s time to add some different colours and texture.” and she couldn’t be more right! Textured ironmongery is not only beautiful but is also highly functional as it has better grip.
Which one is your favourite trend?
