What are the Safest Countries in Southeast Asia

This is a collaborative post

Southeast Asia is a very interesting destination for any type of traveler. Whether they are beaches and mountains or shopping malls and clubs, you can find them in Southeast Asia. Most interestingly, each city has a different aura, giving you a different experience one after the other. Despite this, a lot of tourists planning the region are wondering which countries and cities are the safest in Southeast Asia.

In general, most of Southeast Asia is safe provided you follow the rules of the country you are going to. However, you need to take extra effort to be careful because you are new to the country. So if you’re planning to visit Southeast Asia soon, here are the countries which are considered the safest in terms of security, health, and many more:

Singapore is considered the most cosmopolitan country in the region. It has shopping malls, casinos, clubs, restaurants, and theme parks. It also has an interesting culture — a melting pot of Chinese, Malay, and Indian culture.  In terms of safety, it is also the safest since the country is known for having the strictest laws not only in Southeast Asia but around the world. You can get penalized for chewing gum and spitting on the street.

Thailand is street food heaven and also the place to party till you drop. It is also the place to seek solitude and enlightenment. Don’t just confine yourself in Bangkok — the country has a lot to offer more than beaches and parties. You can rent a scooter and head to Wat Ram Poeng and enjoy silent meditation there for two weeks. Or you can enjoy the northern region of Thailand if you got tired of the city. Just be careful when navigating the place with your scooter. Better yet, get a holiday travel insurance before you leave home. Then, you can have peace of mind knowing you’re covered.

With more than 7000 islands, the Philippines is one of the best places when it comes to beaches and scuba diving. Its marine life is very diverse and unique, some of which you cannot find anywhere else. After you’re done swimming and basking in the sun, nighttime means party time in the Philippines. These days, however, there are stricter laws on smoking so be careful if you’re a smoker or you could pay a handsome sum of get caught.

Although Malaysia is one of the most developed countries in the region, it still has one of the remaining rainforests in the world. Discover nature at its best as you trek the rainforest, go hiking, or visit wildlife conservations. Just make sure to bring an insect or mosquito repellent as well as a lot of water.

Coffee, spa, scuba diving — these are just some of the words associated with Indonesia. It is also one of the most Instagrammable places, especially its sunrise and sunset. When you go there, don’t miss the koi luak, one of the most expensive coffees in the world.

Southeast Asia is safe but you still need to exercise caution for added protection. You also need to respect each of the country’s culture. When people see that, it becomes easier to connect with them. Most of all, never forget to have a holiday travel insurance with you.
