Peppa Pig Count with Peppa & Peppa’s Laugh & Learn Alphaphonics Review & WIN

*This is a collaborative post and we were sent the toys for free to review

Show me a toddler, boy or girl, who doesn’t love Peppa Pig?! I know Little L does, in fact I have a soft spot for Grandpa Pig and Grandpa Dog’s love/hate relationship myself, I digress. We were sent two toys from the latest range from Trends UK, Count with Peppa and Peppa’s Laugh & Learn Alphaphonics.

We have never shied away from the fact that we are fans of electronic educational toys here. Both children have tablets that they use most days and there are some fabulous educational apps. Little L particularly relates to toys and games that make noises and are encouraging and that’s exactly what you get here!

What’s in the Count with Peppa box?

The Count with Peppa box contains one large Peppa Pig holding her purse and 10 large “coins”.

The coins are numbered one to ten, each is a different colour and has different picture on, for instance 8 is black with 8 black crows on.

How play Count with Peppa

There are several ways to play.

On the front of Peppa there are two buttons one selects the questions and the other songs. On the side of Peppa is another button where you can chose either number or colour mode.

Count with Peppa Numbers Mode:

When you pop the “coins” into her purse she will count them.

If you press the left hand button it will change the questions, you can choose between Peppa asking for:

  • a certain number of coins
  • a coin with a certain number on it
  • a coin with a particular picture on it

Each correct answer will result in encouraging phrases, each incorrect answer will result in another question

Count with Peppa Colours Mode:

Pressing the left hand button again changes the questions. Peppa will ask for:

  • A coin with colourful objects such as “8 black crows”
  • A coin of a certain colour

Each correct answer will result in encouraging phrases, each incorrect answer will result in another question

If you press the right hand button Peppa will sing one of three songs.

What age is Count with Peppa aimed at?

Learn with Peppa is aimed at children aged 2 and above. Obviously not many two year olds will know numbers but this is a fun game that will certainly help them to recognise them.

What did we think Count with Peppa

Little L really enjoyed popping the coins in Peppa’s purse, especially if he got the right one! I think it will certainly aid with learning numbers (he already has colours down). The parts are just the right size for him to be able to play with himself, just right for little fingers.

Plus points for parents – it comes with batteries there is volume control and an off switch.

Where can you buy Count with Peppa?

Count with Peppa has a RRP of £19.99 and is available from Argos and Amazon via this affiliate link:

What’s in the Peppa’s Laugh & Learn Alphaphonics box?

The only thing (apart from the onstructions) is the Peppa’s Laugh & Learn Alphaphonics handheld device. There are no batteries – it requires 3 x AAA batteries.

What games can you play on Peppa’s Laugh & Learn Alphaphonics

There are seven different activities.

There is a slider at the top of the unit that moves from left to right. You point it at the different pictures depending on which activity you want.

You can choose between:

  1. Press a letter to hear a word and sound
  2. Press a letter to hear its name and phonetic sound
  3. Peppa will ask you to find a character or object
  4. Peppa will ask you to find the forst letter of a word
  5. Peppa will ask you to find the phonetic letter of a word
  6. Peppa will ask you to copy a sequence of funny sounds
  7. Choose a button and have fun listening to all the sounds and making your own music

What age is Count with Peppa’s Laugh & Learn Alphaphonics aimed at

Peppa’s Laugh & Learn Alphaphonics is aimed at three year olds and over.

Little L is three and doesn’t know letters yet but I can see how it will help him to learn them. He knows Zoey Zebra so it won’t be long before it clicks that it’s Z. Parents that have yet to go through the learning curve that is phonics can also learn a thing or two from Peppa!

What did we think of Peppa’s Laugh & Learn Alphaphonics?

There really is a lot to one unit. I can see it being used a great deal and over the coming months and years. It is colourful and cheerful and not condescending if that makes sense?

Plus points for parents – there is volume control! The only niggle is there is no off switch. It goes into standby after a while but if you accidentally knock it Peppa springs to life…
