I have visited some wonderful places in my life (not nearly enough) but I have never been to Florida. I think Florida would have to be our ultimate family holiday destination
Friends of ours have been and rave about how wonderful it is, in fact, according to Ocean Florida it is Britain’s favourite holiday destination. Not just Disney World but the whole state. I decided to write my dream, money is no object, itinerary should we ever visit…
The flight to Florida
We would of course fly Virgin Upper Class – look, I said it was my dream itinerary. I like the idea of having plenty of leg room on a long haul flight. I think I could get used to being pampered too!
Where to stay in Florida
Ideally I would like to spend a bit of time driving around and taking in all the sights, sounds and attractions Florida has to offer.
I think renting a villa would be a great start, maybe even two different ones. Obviously I would like to spend a few days at Disney World but also Busch Gardens, Nasa Kennedy Space Centre the everglades.
Travelling in Florida
Here in the UK we have a 7 seater so hiring a minivan there would make sense. Having plenty of room for our luggage and comfort for passengers is a priority.
What to see and do in Florida?
First and foremost there is Disney World
Oh Disney World, how I would love to visit there. I was never a big Disney fan growing up but having children and the Pixar films has changed that. There is something truly magical about the power of Disney and I can only imagine visiting Disney World itself.
Not only do the rides look epic but the characters, the Disney Castle, the fireworks. It just looks amazing!
Who is your favourite Disney character? I think mine is Sulley from Monsters Inc. Mind you they own the Muppets and Star Wars now so….
Friends tell me the food is out of this world too. If you are looking to spend wisely my fabulous friend, Nikki at Yorkshire Wonders, wrote this post for the 10 Best Uses of Snack Credits at Disney World Florida – trust her she is a money savvy Yorkshirewoman!
Universal Studios Florida
Apart form anything else let’s just say… The Wizarding World of Harry Potter!
But there are also firm family favourites The Minions, Shrek and Transformers. You could happily send a lot of time on the rides at Universal Studios. There is something for the whole family right up to real thrill seekers.
It would be a shame not to spend a day or two in Miami. It boasts a thriving art scene as well as home to plenty of museums and of course the famous Miami Beach
You cannot possibly visit Florida and not visit the Everglades and see alligators up close. I find the look of the Everglades really mystical so I’d love to do a tour of the Everglades and go on an Airboat.
