chatham dockyard, days out in kent, family days out in Kent

As a 400-year-old dock yard, Chatham Dockyard might not be your first thought when looking for a day out with children But I had heard great things about it from friends so when Chatham Dockyard invited us to go for the day I jumped at the chance. It is a fairly easy journey from here in Sevenoaks and is well signposted (although I used my satnav). Once there we got a bit confused by the parking but then I am easily confused. We just parked in the overflow car park – there is plenty of parking available. We headed to the main building and waitedRead More →

Everyone loves dinosaurs these days, right? On Sunday we went to the latest dinosaur attraction Dinosaurs in the Wild. Luckily for us it was just a train and tube ride to the O2, then about a 15 minute walk to the building that contains the ‘research facility’. It is well signposted and there are dinosaur footprints on the path so you know you are heading in the right direction. I’ll be honest I really wasn’t sure what to expect from the 70 minute Dinosaurs in the Wild adventure Although friends of mine had already visited their posts didn’t give too much away, and nor will IRead More →

As you may know if you have read my previous posts (if not why not, it’s not too late! Read them straight after this, you won’t regret it!) Monsieur Incidental is French. I often see requests for tips on driving in France or cries for help in keeping childrenRead More →

Having family in both France and Cyprus we like to try and visit them as regularly as my health and our budget will allow. Vince’s parents live in France and my aunt, uncle and cousins live in Cyprus. Admittedly we travel to France more regularly as it’s easy to pack up the car and drive all the way there (plus we stay with family for free) but I do love Cyprus. Cyprus is fab for price, you can get some great holiday deals, especially outside of school holidays and you are almost guaranteed fantastic weather. The flight isn’t too horrendous at around 4 to 5Read More →

I know most of my posts are either rants or my attempt at humour (if you haven’t read them please familiarise yourself with them here) but with the school holidays fast approaching I thought I’d share my favourite outdoorsy places local to me.  Obviously that will mean eff all to anyone not from around these parts.  Sorry about that! I love getting outdoors and I don’t like paying for it so they are all either free or cheap! Here goes: My first favourite place is Sevenoaks Wildlife Reserve on Bradbourne Vale Road.  I’ve had a love affair with this place since I was a little girl andRead More →
