Eccleston Square Hotel is a boutique hotel nestled in an upmarket area in London’s Belgravia.
Overlooking the tranquil Eccleston Square Gardens, which is so exclusive you need a key to enter, Eccleston Square Hotel is a world away from the closest train station, London Victoria which is about a ten minute walk.
The hotel is a luxury boutique hotel set in a renovated Grade II listed Georgian Townhouse and is independent and family run. It prides itself on cutting edge, user friendly technology such as Apple TV, a Sonos soundbar and, trust me, lots of charging ports and both European and UK plug sockets. There is also super fast high speed fibre Wi-Fi which is great if you need to work or, like us, use social media.
There are a variety of rooms available at the hotel, ranging from the City Queen Room up to the Balcony King Room. We stayed in the Balcony King Room.

The hotel is set in a quiet square overlooking Eccleston Square gardens as mentioned previously. The buildings are all Georgian townhouses and look very classy. The hotels porch is inviting with a large doormat depicting the hotel’s name.
We arrived at the hotel mid afternoon, greeted with a friendly smile and check in was very easy and we were both given a key card which gives you access to the hotel as well as your room. There are two lifts servicing the hotel, which is handy if you have luggage, we chose the stairs on the way down!
This may sound daft but the hotel smells lovely, which is something you notice as soon as you enter.
On the ground floor is a lounge, dining room, meeting room and in the reception area are tea and coffee facilities.

The Balcony King Room at Eccleston Square Hotel – Review
On scanning our key card we entered the room which is a decent sized boutique style room. First impressions were that it is high end from the furnishings, the user friendly technology as well as the bathrobes, slippers and L’Occitaine toiletries.

There is an en suite bathroom which features smart glass giving you the option to have clear glass or opaque at the touch of a button! We set it to opaque as neither of us wanted to watch the other have a shower! Even on the opaque setting it let through plenty of natural light. More on the bathroom to follow!

The Balcony King room has a King size Hästens bed which I will cover later, a 46″ 4K television screen, a Nespresso Machine, air conditioning, bathrobes to use during your stay, complimentary Evian water which you can find in your fridge a Babylis hairdryer and anything else you might need during your stay.

There are french doors that open on to a balcony which overlooks Eccleston Square Gardens. There is a table and two chairs which is just perfect for a peaceful glass of wine while you watch the world go by – or a fox trot across the gardens like us.

The bathroom is located next to the door. There is plenty of loo roll – honestly too many hotels skimp on this! It is lovely and clean and looks impressive. There is a touchscreen next to the door which allows you to set the lighting, and use the smart glass. There is a shower cubicle, no bath if that’s important to you however, the cubicle was a sufficient size for plus sized me. I sometimes struggle with the size of shower cubicles but not here! There were two shower heads, including one that you can remove from the cradle which I like in order to rinse myself off and the aforementioned L’Occitaine toiletries, showergel, shampoo and conditioner along with hand wash on the basin, which all smelt divine.

There also a hidden television in the mirror in the bathroom, which is quite the novelty!

You may wonder why the bed needs it’s own review, well, let me tell you!
Before reviewing the hotel I read up on it and what really stuck out was the fact that the room has a King Size Hästens bed which retails in the UK at over £30,000! I had never heard of them before so was intrigued as to why it was so special, it turns out that, not only does it offer a sumptuously good nights sleep, it offers a massage! Yes, you read that correctly, the bed massages you!

On the side of the bed is a console, not unlike one you find on an electric blanket, which has several buttons. You can lift up the head and/or foot of the bed (great if you like to read in bed or need to elevate your feet) and you can select the massage settings. We got back from our night at the theater in Covent Garden and decided to have a go – anyone who knows me will appreciate that I am a bit of a silly sausage and thoroughly enjoyed messing about with the massage settings while scaring the life out of my friend (and fabulous travel blogger) Nikki! You can set the bed to massage either end of the bed, the middle or a combination of the three, as well as having various speed/depth of massage settings. We weren’t sure if we liked it or not at first but, as Nikki said after I turned it off, “I miss it now it’s gone”!

Breakfast was included in our stay and is served in the downstairs dining area. It is a continental buffet with pastries, cereal, toast, yoghurt, porridge, cheeses and cold meat on offer alongside fresh fruit juices and tea and coffee.
Eccleston Square Gardens
As a guest of the hotel you are permitted to use the exclusive Eccleston Square Gardens, you just have to ask a member of the team to let you in with the hotel key, and call them to let you out again!
The gardens don’t look very big from the outside but are quite vast. They are like something out of The Secret Garden with winding paths that circle the perimeter as well as leading to secret spots to sit and enjoy the tranquility. There is a childrens playground and even tennis courts at the far end from the hotel.

The plants are glorious with greenery like palms and ferns as well as colourful flowers and trees offering shade on a hot summers day. I would highly recommend a visit during your stay. When we visited, on a Monday afternoon, it was very quiet but I imagine it is well used by the residents when not at work or school.
We had a lovely stay at the Eccleston Square Hotel. The rooms are comfortable, the staff are lovely and attentive without being too in your face and it is set in a lovely area with shops and cafes as well as some very nice restaurants. If you stay at the hotel you are close enough to everything in central London without the hustle and bustle of central London!
