If you’re looking for cool gift ideas for tweens then you’re in the right place!

Big L was ten this year and is firmly in his tweens. A lot of people struggle with what gifts to buy for children between the age of 10 and 13 so I thought I would put this together with some of Big Ls favorites from big(ish) bucks to something more affordable:

For the budding YouTuber tween: Joby GorillaPod Mobile Vlogging Kit

Big L has grand ideas of being a YouTuber, I’m pretty sure he’s not alone. I have said if he can learn how to video properly, edit and so on then we’ll consider it. Even Little L is getting in on the act, I often hear him talking as if he’s hosting a YouTube show!

This gadget from Joby is epic, and just what every budding YouTube tween needs. The GorillaPod works with your mobile phone or camera to help you create more professional content. There is the Gorillapod Mobile Rig which you hold, a Wavo Mobile Microphone for better sound and Beamo LED Light.

RRP £179.95 available from Joby and Amazon

For the social media fan tween: IMO Q4 PRO 2021

Upgraded for 2021 the IMO Q4 Pro 2021 is a fab mobile phone for tweens. You get a lot of bang for your buck with this bit of kit with features such as:

  • Face unlock
  • 5.5″ HD screen
  • Dual Rear Cameras 8MP & 0.3MP
  • Front Camera (for selfies) 5MP
  • 16GB Memory (expandable to 64 GB with micro SD card)

It runs on Android 9 Go; I am, and probably always will be, an Android person. This phone is perfect for tweens so they can keep in touch as well as take photos and videos.

RRP £64.99 from Tesco in store and online in due course

For the gaming tween: Nintendo Switch Lite

Big L was lucky enough to get a Nintendo Switch for Christmas a coupe of years ago. It’s fab and we all play together on it as a family.

The Switch Lite is that bit more portable than the original Switch and is great for gaming on the go – and you don’t have to worry about losing any parts.

RRP £199 available in various colours from Nintendo direct and Amazon

For the clumsy gaming Tween: Gear4 Kita Grip 360 case

If you have a Switch Lite you NEED one of these!

Little L has dropped the Switch Lite on numerous ocassions but this has kept it safe. The clear case fits over the Switch Lite in the same way as a mobile phone case works. It is a nice textured rubbery feel which makes it less slippy and contoured palm grips. It also comes with a screen protector.

RRP £39.99 available from Zagg.com

For music loving tweens: Urbanista London Ear Buds

These London ear buds fro Urbanista are fab as they give you the choice of canceling outside noise or letting it in, for instance if you want to hear announcements. Urbanista make a wide range of ear buds including Stockholm which are specifically designed for mobile gaming.

The Urbanista London ear buds are available in different colors, these are Dark Sapphire, which is my personal favorite, they have a 25 hour battery life and touch as well as voice control.

The Urbanista London ear buds are available directly from Urbanista.com RRP £129

For active tweens: Nerf Elite 2.0 Phoenix CS-6 with Panasonic Batteries

We have a fair few Nerf guns and they really are great fun, in fact we have the inflatable Nerf Bunkr which makes for a great Nerf party! If the kids need to burn off a bit of energy, load up a couple of Nerf guns with bullets and you’re off. Don’t forget the Panasonic batteries if they need them too!

The Nerf Elite 2.0 Phoenix CS-6 motorised blaster has five tactical rails, a stock attachment point and a barrel attachment point so you can customise it for each mission or battle. It fires six darts in a row from the included six-dart clip.

Panasonic Batteries are currently running an online Power Rangers game where you can will prizes. Head over to PowerYourDay.win.eu to try your luck!

RRP £20.00 available from Argos

For the football fanatic tween: Tangle Nightball

We love this ball – it lights up when kicked which makes for great fun playing in the dark!

Motion-activated LED lights illuminate when the ball is set in motion. Tap, pass, kick and shoot – the NightBall football stays lit for 30 seconds before auto shut off, so you can keep track of your ball in the dark. They are available in white, orange and green – like ours.

RRP £19.99 Available from Smyths

For the speedy Tween: Maxi Micro Scooter Deluxe Pro

Maxi Micro Scooter Deluxe and Micro Helmet

Maxi Micro Deluxe Pro Scooter and Micro Helmet

We recently reviewed the Maxi Micro Scooter Deluxe and thought it was great. There are other styles to choose from and they are all suitable for ages 5 to 12. Great for the school run and weekends at the (skate) park. Any tween would be delighted to get one of these for a gift.

RRP 129.95 from Miro Scooters

For the tween who likes to create: Lego

Both my kids love Lego, it’s a bit of luck because the grown ups in the house do too!

Lego makes a fab gift as it can be affordable with sets starting at £2.49 for a small set although you can find yourself spending a small fortune. It is also available everywhere, including the supermarket and Amazon
