Back in the 80’s, when I was a kid, I had a Tiny Tears doll who I loved. I loved the fact that I could “feed” her and she would cry and I could comfort her like a real baby. The only thing that would have made me love her more is if she had been a puppy…
Cry Pets are cute plush puppies that drink from a bottle and cry at the press of a paw
In the box you will find your new Cry Pet pal, a baby bottle and little towel for wiping the tears away.

How to make your Cry Pet puppy cry
To fill the bottle you simply place the top in a bowl of water and squeeze and let the water be sucked into the bottle. Then you place the top of the bottle in the puppies mouth and gently squeeze. As you squeeze the water from the bottle you can watch the puppy’s eyes fill with tears. Don’t squeeze too much water in as the tears can spray out quite forcefully – although Little L found this hilarious!

Once your puppy’s eyes are full you gently squeeze their paw to make them cry.
What we thought of our Cry Pet Puppy
There is something about a cute toy that cries to bring out the nurturing instinct. Little L (4) cradled his puppy, fed it and when it cried wiped the tears away and cuddled it.

The Cry Pet puppy is a nice size, perfect for cuddles and cradling and soft to stroke. The huge eyes and sad face add to the appeal. It’s really nice to watch Little L comfort his Cry Pet puppy, it is a great way to encourage exploring a range of emotions and empathy. Playing with toys that show emotion opens discussion among children and aids imaginative play.
We discussed what might have upset the Cry Pet puppy? Do we think they are hurt or upset? Do they need a vet? Could we play vets? How can we comfort the puppy? What will make it happy?
