We were sent a Soda Stream for review for this review (but we have bought them in the past!)
My family have owned a SodaStream since the 1980’s. In fact my mum STILL has our original SodaStream (I wonder if it’s worth anything?)
My mum brought us a new SodaStream when Monsieur Incidental and I moved in together a few years ago. He is keen on fizzy water but she wasn’t keen on seeing the plastic bottles going into the recycling. I returned the favour by buying a new one for her last year!
SodaStream sent me a new SodaStream Spirit for this review so I guess another friend will be the lucky recipient of that!
Anyway, I digress:
SodaStream, what’s all the fuss about?
SodaStream have made a big comeback in recent years. People are looking to use less plastic, create less waste and generally be more environmentally friendly and buying bottles of carbonated drinks just doesn’t make sense any more.
What’s in the SodaStream Spirit Box?
With SodaStream you get the SodaStream, a bottle and the gas canister.
It’s very simple to set up. You simply attach the gas canister and you’re away! There is a bit of a knack to getting the bottle in the right place but it’s simple enough. Then you are good to go! You add the bubbles by simply pressing the button on top of the machine.
There are other models, including an electric version and one with glass bottles (like we had in the 80’s!) that I have my eye on. There is something to suit most budgets and remember that you will be making a saving from buying carbonated drinks from the supermarket.
Where can I exchange my SodaStream gas refill bottle?
SodaStream run their own exchange but you can also go in store. Check out the SodaStream shop locator – I have several local to me like Argos and Robert Dyas. They are usually around £14.99 for a £60 litre bottle when exchanging your empty one.
Other SodaStream accessories you can buy
As well as the flavoured concentrate you can purchase replacement bottles as these don’t last forever. They have a best before date on them.
You can also buy small travel size bottles so you can take your fizzy water wherever you go. These are also dishwasher proof.
What can you make with SodaStream?
The flavour combinations are endless! You can buy concentrate from SodaStream directly, they have recently launched some with organic flavours (I’ve not tried these myself yet) or you can use your own squash. We are big fans of fizzy grenadine here! You can also get cola and tonic flavour so you can make your own mixers.
SodaStream are available AAALLL over the place, including diectly from SodaStream and from this Amazon link (affiliate)
