Aquabeads are the perfect craft to keep small (and big) hands busy during lockdown and they have provided some great templates too
Anyone who follows me knows I am not a “crafty mum” so when we were asked if we would like to review Aquabeads I didn’t exactly jump at the chance. However, Big L (9) did so here we are and I was pleasantly surprised.
We were sent three sets, Aquabeads Star Beads Studio Playset, Aquabeads Star Bead Theme Refill & Aquabeads Star Beads Refill:
The Aquabeads Star Studio Playset comes with everything you need to start making your creations: Star Bead case, bead pen with bead picker, flip tray, sprayer, templates and instructions and over 1000 beads!
The beads are all packaged individually and you have enough to make one or two of each of the templates.
The first thing I did was empty the beads into the bead case so they didn’t roll away and they were easy to see. Note, there aren’t enough sections for all of the beads, so make sure you pick the beads that you need for the template you are using.

Aquabeads bead case
For our first attempt I went for something fairly easy.
Crafting an Aquabeads Star Beads Cactus:

Placing the beads
First of all you need to get your tray ready and place the template behind the tray. Make sure it matches up with where you place the beads – there is an arrow on the template to point you in the right direction.
Next you place the beads on the tray. I have to be honest I used my fingers to place most of the beads but the pen is useful for fiddly bead placements.

Spraying our cactus
Once all your beads are in place and you are happy with your design you simply spray with water. The beads stick together and can be flipped on to the flat tray but you must leave them to dry completely before picking it up (I made the rookie error of not waiting and one ended up ruined).
What age are Aquabeads Star Beads suitable for?
The sets are aimed at age 4 and above but Little L (4) would not manage without supervision. I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed it though and can see how people could find it thearpeutic, rather like the colouring books.
Where can I find extra Aquabeads templates?
As well as including extra templates in the refills boxes they can also be found online here: Aquabeads Templates
The Aquabeads templates include:
Aquabeads Wedding Template
Aquabeads Seasonal Templates including Christmas, Easter, Birthdays, Halloween, Summer, Spring, Flowers and so on
Aquabeads Sylvanian Families Templates
Once you become a pro you can also make 3D models, like pen pots and tissue boxes! We are planning on making name signs for the bedroom doors
