Five Tips for Keeping Warm for Less this Winter

This is a collaborative post

As we are probably all aware energy prices are continuing to go up so now is a good time for some tips to keep warm for less this winter

With all the experts telling us to just stick to our current energy supplier as there are no better deals to be found we need to look elsewhere to keep the energy costs down. So, while moving is not an option, what other practical things can we do?

Here are five tips to keep warm for less:

1. Make sure your heating system is in tip top condition

Waking up on a freezing January morning to find that your boiler has packed up is no joke so it is certainly worth having it serviced so save you from needing emergency boiler repairs. Having your boiler serviced before the cold weather sets in can give you peace of mind and will also ensure that it is running safely and efficiently. Bleeding a radiator is also something you can do yourself and helps your individual radiators work efficiently.

2.  Keep your living area temperature constant

According to the British Heart Foundation you should aim to keep your living area temperature between 18 and 21 degrees and the rest of your home at least 16 degrees. If you are unable to heat your whole home then aim to heat the living area during the day and warm u your bedroom before bedtime.

3.Take advantage of insulation offers

Insulating your home can make a huge difference. You can insulate your loft and also cavity wall insulation. You know it’s working when you go into the loft for your Christmas tree and it’s freezing up there! Once it’s done insulation should last years, you’ll be keeping warm and saving on heating bills for a long time to come.

4. Wrap up warm

I don’t know about you but my mum was always telling me to put a jumper on if I said I was cold, I have turned into my mum! But it’s true, the best thing you can do is layer up to keep warm cheaply. We have a box of fleece blankets that we snuggle under when it gets chilly, especially in the evenings.

5. Warm up from the inside!

By eating warm comfort food and drinking hot drinks it can help keep the cold at bay. Plenty of soup and cups of tea are definitely in order! Not only will you war up from the inside but wrapping your fingers around a warm mug will most definitely keep the chill away.

I hope these tips are helpful, is there anything you would add?
