Includes places we have previously reviewed where we were gifted entry
After several requests following my “Things to do in Sevenoaks” posts, I have put together a few ideas for indoor rainy day activities in and around Sevenoaks, Kent.
Thanks to members of my Facebook group Incidentally Sevenoaks for your suggestions – you can join Incidentally Sevenoaks here
Obviously you can pop on your waterproofs and go puddle jumping but that can get a bit tedious after a few days of piddling rain. I also enjoy baking but the kids disappear as soon as the ingredients are out of the cupboard then reappear when it’s time to lick the bowl…
Let’s kick things off with:
Sevenoaks Leisure Centre
There is more to Sevenoaks Leisure Centre than just a swimming pool. If you have a toddler you will know about the small soft play area in the cafe too but did you know they host a roller disco, go karts and numerous classes? Over the summer holidays they have a vast range of things to do so check out the website here
Libraries don’t just deal with books these days! Not only do they loan out DVDs and audio tapes there is also a local museum and exhibition space. There many groups run at the library too so get out of the rain and check out the library. For more details check out the website here
Little Street, Riverhead, Sevenoaks
Hot on the heels of Little Street in Maidstone is it’s (slightly smaller) sibling in Riverhead. Aimed at toddlers to 7 year olds they also welcome children up to the age of 12 that enjoy role play. Here you can dress up and play in a variety of different themed rooms. If only they made adult sized costumes…. Top tip from Mikayla – take socks otherwise you have to buy some! Check out their website here
The Stag, Sevenoaks
With a host of films, theatre and different events in the Plaza Suite it’s always worth checking whats on at The Stag. Wednesdays are 2 for 1 for cinema tickets too so you can save a couple of quid. For details of what’s on click here
Clip ‘n Climb, Tonbridge
For the thrill seekers look no further than Clip ‘n Climb in Tonbridge. I’ve never been myself but popular among member of Incidentally Sevenoaks – and they know what they’re talking about. Clip and Climb boast that they are Kent’s first and the world’s largest Clip n Climb. Indoor climbing is a perfect rainy day activity for all the family. No experience is necessary either. See you there?! You can find out more here
Jump In, Tonbridge
It’s a trampoline park – what’s not to love (pack your tena lady, ladies). With a multitude of trampoline based activities including Wipe Out – “BRING ON THE WALL!” Just me? OK. For more information check out their website here
Bowling – Hollywood Bowl, Tunbridge Wells and Superbowl, Orpington
Bowling. Pretend you are Fred Flintstone. Job done!
If you can bear it then one of the various soft play centres –
Beware they get VERY busy in the rain and may cause nausea – I jest, sort of. Locally you can choose from:
Wear ’em Out, Tonbridge, Kent
Manic Monsters, Edenbridge, Kent
Tiny Town, Aylesford, Kent
I have to be honest I am not a fan of soft play but each to their own and desperate times and all that
Bluewater, Dartford, Kent
I have to be honest, I do like Bluewater on a rainy day. I can happily drag the kids around and stop at one of the many cafe’s or restaurants (I have a Tastecard, 2 for 1 – I’m not made of money).
There is much more to Bluewater than just shops. There is the Showcase Cinema de Luxe (if you haven’t experienced the luxury recliners you must – here is our review from when we went to see Paw Patrol – Mighty Pups)
Also in Bluewater is a soft play with a difference in Dinotropolis (check out our review of Dinotrolpolis) and Gravity trampoline park – highly recommended by us for their very patient staff with our slightly nervous boy. We have been to a few birthday parties here and the kids always surface red-faced and sweaty so if you want to wear them out then here is perfect!
Hopefully this gives a few ideas of activities you can do on a rainy day. Let me know if you have any others I can include!
